Skiary is a remote guesthouse on the west coast of Scotland run by my girlfriend Claire and I during the summer.
The website showcases the rugged beauty of the house and its spectacular surroundings.
I hand coded in XHTML and CSS, and edited the graphics in photoshop. The gallery and menu make use of javascript.
Blue Sky is a very popular new café in Bangor, north Wales. As well as serving high quality, locally sourced food and a wide selection of drinks, they have a busy schedule of live music, poetry and cinema in the evenings.
I made this website in XHTML and CSS, and included a blog and events calendar using the wordpress CMS customised to fit in with the look and feel of the website.
The photographs on the website were taken by me.
UKClimbing.com, a popular rock climbing forum, ran a banner advert design competition in partnership with Lyon Equipment. I came second (out of 53 entries).
Frank Bennett of Lyon Equipment:
"Tom chose four different styles in his four adverts and managed to pull it all off - and used his multitude of image manipulation skills in the process to great effect. We particularly like the illustrations of the climber and rope, the rope artfully filling the whole frame, in the tower advert. Beautifully done. Similarly in the Myo XP advert, great illustrations of the product in use combined with a product photograph. Great use of text, readable, in proportion, and good contrast, complementary without any clashes. Liked the shadow in the Elios advert that highlights both product and action photograph. The Miura VS advert is very attention grabbing, it's an aggressive rock shoe!"
